GRRRRRRR.......People!!!

do you ever feel like that?.

i,ve just attended my own funeral, well it might as well have been .. i'm now nonexistant in my former friends eyes.. they have to stay away , i'm a danger to them.. so i can now count on one hand how many friends i have 2 , including my wife.. the other friend has also left the truth but i dont see him much as he lives in another town .. so since i work on my own i'm going to be pretty lonely for a while .. no more weekends down the pub or staying down anyones house.. i wonder whats on telly.. er nothing..oh crap.. well there always next door cat i wonder if hes good at conversation..here kitty , kitty.

I can certainly understand your anger in your situation. I am not df'd but I have not attended meetings or associated at JW social gatherings for the last couple of years except for the obligatory assembly to help with my aging JW mom who still is bull-headed enough to insist on attending even though she sleeps through most of it and can't hear the rest. lol

All I can say is that you've found a good place here to make friends. I'm sure in the few months you've been posting, you've read of the bonds that have been formed here and I can attest to the fact that emailing with others can help to make friends near to you and far away. And taking it a step further...finding ones from here that are close enough to travel to meet together for a bbq or a dinner out can really cement the friendships. (we got the idea from ozzie and others posting about their goodtimes)

I can vouch for all of this because several of us within a 4 hour or so driving distance have done so and having a common background serves to form a strong bond that keeps alive the desire to keep in touch and arrange to meet again. We even had someone fly from hundreds of miles away to meet and spend time with us and that has cemented the friendships even moreso.

Please don't give up on all people because of the hard-heartedness of the JWs and the WTS. There are some nice people out in the world and many especially-nice exJWs everywhere. Reach out.

Email me if you would like to. I've never been to the UK but have family roots there.

after a terrible week, the nsw state government allowed the traditional world's greatest fireworks display from sydney harbour.. it was unbelievable!

if you thought the olympics fireworks was something, this was so much better.

just what we need to start off the new year.

I'm so glad you folks there in Aussieland got to see your fireworks knowing what horrible conditions you are going through at this time.

My thoughts are with you and Mrs. Ozzie and all the other posters from your area and sincerely hope you all are faring well.

Hopefully we'll see some coverage of your fireworks display on our news today showing us that beautiful sight. I have seen many pictures of your wondrous grand Harbour and can only imagine for now how spectacular the sights must have been!!!

It's still the morning of New Years Eve here in Canada so we have a bit more to go before our countdown. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!

Humanitarian Help from Elders?

i was reasearching something recently and reading the "secret elder manual".

i barely skimmed through this book when i had one and see it in a whole new light now.. this is the question the "flock" book tries to answer:.

what can elders do if a disfellowshipped person is hospitalized and facing the issue of blood transfusions?.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on this. I agree totally and the experience outnfree related I have found is typical.

Yet some people will label any relating of these kind of experiences as "picking out only the bad and being negative". I look at this and other bad experiences as pointing out the reality of what the WTS is all about.

You say you see the "flock" book in a new light now. Yes...you are seeing the WTS, not negatively but realistically. They say they are treating the df'd person that way out of love. What a joke!!!

Like outnfree related....where is the love shown to the family members.

Thirdson says: "I think the word "humanitarian" means something different in the Watchtower world."

Maybe we could display the definition of "humanitarian" the way the WTS is famous for...the manipulating of quotations to suit their purpose. The definiton as posted in outnfree's reply would then look like this:

humanitarian, n. a person devoted to promoting.....pain and suffering.......especially through the elimination of....the welfare of humanity

Then when confronted with the above misquote, we could reply as the WTS has before: "Well I got the words right didn't I?"

Actually, in this case, this variation of the definition more appropriately fits the WTS anyway. I too have witnessed their "humanitarian" acts and see them for what they are inside....empty and void of "true" love.

Another WT lie from Ground Zero..

i have been very busy lately but i had to stop for a few and write this.. it is beyond me why the wts has the need to not only lie but to keep making stuff up as they go along.

the latest being an experience related to the jws at my local hall (a friend of mine who still goes told me).

was visiting this week and related the following account:.

Thank you so very much for filling us in on the "real truth". I can certainly understand your indignation at this constant "crowing and beating of the chest" the WTS is doing to bolster their image. Being right there in the GZ area and knowing the tight security there, it is a slap in your face and of all those who were and still are working there.

Thanks for supplying the name of the CO. And to hear further of the instructions of DOs to "embellish" the experiences at assemblies is just infuriating. It would be very gratifying to see the WTS and all these strutting banty roosters who are selling this BS to the masses, exposed, redfaced and sputtering.

New to board, from Minnesota..here's my story.

i am currently from minnesota and live in st. paul (roseville), but the congregation that i went to was in the apple valley area.

I just noticed your story and want to add my "welcome" to you too!

Your story is a prime example of how so many who are studied with are so easily duped into baptism which forever affects their lives. Even when we break away from the WTS, it can still have an effect on us through our families who are still JWs.

I am so glad to hear you say you "had enough" though since that's how I felt when I finally made my decision to never go back...(hence my name = "Had Enough")

I'm sure you'll find the support and encouragement here that you need right now, as so many of us have.

14 Minutes and you are not a Servant of Jehovah

last night we were discussing the "new light" that was revealed to the gb recently from jehovah.

many of us recall all the co talks and elder parts based on the bible text of how a true servant of jah would not be "inactive or irregular" for years one was required to have at least one hour to be considered a servant of jah.. as the sec in my hall i recall so many times calling up friends to get thier time and hearing them break crying cause they didn't have 60min only about 45min- and they knew that it meant they were not servants of jah.

now with the new light from jw a person with only 14 minutes of time will now be disqualified as being a servant of jah.. it is amazing how many jw will view this arrangement as a "loving provision from jah" instead of realizing that thier service to thier god has been reduced to whether they get 15min or 14 min.

This statement of yours really hit me today.

there in no power stronger in my view than to convince a person that his or her actions are approved by God himself
and just think as jw your entire life actions are based on the belief that somehow your actions are approved by god-
no blood- no oral sex( till they change the rules) no alternative service( till they change the rules)
so there are so many things that both you and i did that we honestly believed was approved by god and as for the Field service time issue- in my mind the arrangement was approved by god- that is what makes
this religion so scary

yes...JT. That is such a useful and powerful tool of the WTS. And then add to this power of a non-biblical instruction as "being approved by god", is the tool of the making us believe that it was by direction of god to the GB in the first place....and when the rule changed...well that was god now causing the GB to "see the new light" for us.

And when all of these things were ususally "backed-up" by some obscure Bible scripture and when we read the surrounding scriptures...we amazingly fluffed off the non-connection, and hoped we were never asked to explain this "belief"....such as your thought about how with 15 minutes of service to report, you are OK but with 14 minutes only, you're not.

yes...there are a lot of scary things about this religion...and hoping to help others see that, is what keeps many of us coming back here.

I haven't been able to get to the board much these past few weeks, but I'm glad I saw this today.

As with so many of your posts, I read them with my head nodding in agreement all through them...and your "shopping cart" comparison was so right on!!!!

I too think of how many things I would have done differently if I had opened my eyes sooner than this, but like so many others, I just squashed my doubts and labelled myself as spiritually weak for having such thoughts or questions. I lament sometimes that I held on for as long as I did, but at the same time, I'm so very grateful that I am here now and able to enjoy the things I do now.

And I think too of ones like my brother who was never allowed to pursue a musical career with the beautiful talent he has, because, as my mother so proudly crowed..."he would be in the "truth" now if we had let him go into the entertainment field". Now he even feels he has to stifle his beautiful voice when singing at the hall or at assemblies because he's constantly reminded of not making himself appear conceited about his talent.

The rules, oppressive rules and such detailed technicalities ..... no wonder so many are tiring out. I tire out just remembering them.

What message of Goodness do they teach?

When will it ever become clear to the WTS that we do good to others because WE WANT TO, not because we have a goal in view.

That was my first thought exactly when I read your paragraph on the two illustrations!

The WTS seems to have no idea how their kind of spin on "doing a good deed", affects one growing up in the org. To constantly be told to do good deeds with a preaching goal in mind certainly can lead to the cold-heartedness we so often see in JWs and does not cultivate the real reason for doing good....because we want to and can help someone else in need.

What a true but sad example of misguided guidance!

I never thought about jealousy

as i look back over the trials and tribulations of.

being a witness, there is one aspect of it that i. never gave much thought about.. jealousy.

it just never occured to me.

When posters here relate their JW experiences, it really helps me now as I try to put the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of my life together.

It really helps to see more clearly, reasons for little things that happened growing up in a JW family that I haven't really thought about before.
